What Newly Certified is

Last revised

Newly Certified is a free reference for working nurses, dental assistants and safety technicians who now face a board exam in their field. It opens with five exams across three fields. Each gets the same treatment: who qualifies, what is tested, the fees, how the credential stays active, and beside each figure the owner's document it came from plus our reading date.

Who these pages are written for

Four of the five exams here require training or months on the job before an application is accepted, so most pages assume you already work in the field.

  • The two NCC nursing exams take registered nurses with time on their unit (RN + 24 months + 2,000 h).
  • BCSP's construction technician exam asks for site time first (3 years, 35% safety duties).
  • DANB's radiation exam is the open door of the group, with no entry requirement at all, while its chairside exam, a component of the DANB CDA, has its own education and work routes.

That sets the register: dated figures, rules quoted as the owner words them, the errors candidates really make, and no cheerleading.

How each exam is laid out

An exam gets an overview and four pages beneath it, and each page answers one question.

  1. Overview: who may sit, how the credential is renewed, and three or four sample items, as on the neonatal intensive care overview.
  2. Practice test: a free set of 30 questions in which every answer choice carries its own explanation.
  3. Study guide: the content outline area by area on a single page, with the weight of each area, the traps it sets and 9 to 18 sample questions across the areas, as in the radiation safety study guide.
  4. Exam info: length, timing, scoring, when results arrive and the rules for a retake, as on the construction safety exam facts.
  5. Registration: the order of steps from application to appointment, where you can test and every fee along the way.

Left out on purpose

  • Ads, sponsored rankings, affiliate links, products. Nothing here needs a login, and nothing sits behind one.
  • Recalled or leaked exam content. Each item was drafted from the outline for practice use.
  • A course. A study guide maps what a section tests and where candidates trip; choosing a textbook is up to you.
  • Bylines. The site publishes as Newly Certified and explains its method in place of names: the editorial policy for facts, the review process for questions.
  • Any role on behalf of NCC, DANB or BCSP, or of PSI and Pearson VUE, the vendors that deliver their exams. If one of their current documents contradicts a figure on this site, the document is right.

Where your exam record lives

Applications, approvals, appointments, score reports and certificates stay with the exam owner and its test vendor. Newly Certified cannot look up your file, change a date or confirm a result. The contact page lists who handles each of those steps.
